Liseberg is a park for every taste. Since 1923, we have made it our mission to show our millions of guests and tens of thousands of employees a good time. When you come to Liseberg you can expect excitement, music, fun and games, and verdant gardens. And, not least, good food – all year round. 

We are now looking for a Head Chef with overall responsibility for the kitchens in these three restaurants. The gross revenue of these restaurants is approximately 60 million crowns per year. They are staffed by about 20 permanent employees and about 40 seasonal workers. Our kitchen is staffed by about ten permanent employees, two of whom are Sous-Chefs who support our Head Chef in the day-to-day kitchen operations.

Liseberg offers a wide variety of restaurant concepts that cater to various segments. We are looking for someone who wants to help us continue to develop our three most exciting restaurants.

The menu at Stjärnornas Krog revolves around grilled dishes and hamburgers, robust salads and delicatessen meats. During the Christmas season we offer a classic Swedish Christmas smorgasbord that is served to nearly 18,000 guests.

The Green Room is one of Göteborg’s few completely vegetarian restaurants. We offer our guests a both innovative and well-tasting buffet that showcases Mother Nature’s diversity in flavours and textures.

Rondo is our show restaurant, serving three-course meals and elegant tapas delicacies to up to 1,000 guests per evening. We also cater everything from lunches to banquets in connection with large events and corporate events all year round.

Duties

As Head Chef, you manage the day-to-day kitchen operations. You are a visible, present leader that actively participates in these operations to provide our guests with a high quality and service level.  Your input is important in our recruitment efforts and performance reviews, and you manage both our staff planning and schedule changes. Moreover, you participate in work manual updates, are responsible for practical on-boarding of new staff, and manage workplace training.

On top of your operational duties, you also manage some administrative tasks, including kitchen finance, stock management, purchasing routines and taking inventory. You work closely with the Restaurant Manager to further develop the business and actively contribute to a good collaborative environment between the kitchen and the front restaurant. You enable an open, pleasant work environment and take significant personal responsibility in relation to your employees by following applicable industry rules and regulations. You lead by example and inspire others to set high goals for their professional development.

Qualifications

To qualify as a candidate, you should have completed a relevant restaurant education and have at least five years’ documented experience of working in a restaurant kitchen. The position requires extensive experience in a kitchen management position, including day-to-day tasks such as raw material ordering and menu and staff planning. You have experience of working with buffets, à la carte and catering operations, and enjoy the challenge of high-volume, high-paced deliveries. Experience of working with vegetarian dishes is a merit.

Your commitment and competence will, in addition to helping us maintain our high standards and satisfied customers, contribute to the further development of these three restaurant concepts.

You are a diligent worker, set clear goals, and deliver high-quality meals. Furthermore, you are well-acquainted with the rules and legal framework that govern working with food and raw materials.

Employment terms

The position is a permanent position, with a starting date as per agreement. Your working calendar and hours follow the Liseberg park’s and these restaurants’ opening hours, which includes both daytime and evenings on regular weekdays, weekends and holidays. Our peak seasons require high staffing levels, which means that your operational presence is especially important during the summer and Christmas seasons.

The business area Food & Beverages encompasses all of the Liseberg amusement park’s restaurants.  The Business Area Manager has the overall responsibility for these operations and is supported by a number of Restaurant Managers and a personnel coordinator.

Liseberg’s operations encompass the amusement park, our restaurants, entertainment, and accommodation. Liseberg is wholly owned by the city of Göteborg. The park employs about 400 permanent staff and approximately 2,300 seasonal employees. The park’s gross revenues are about 1.1 billion SEK per year.

The amusement park is managed through seven business areas: Restaurants, Fast food, Attractions, Games, Shopping, Entertainment, and Accommodation.
